In a faraway realm with soft slopes and sparkling lakes, there lived a kind princess named Snow White. People didn’t simply know her for her beauty. She was beautiful, with skin like the first snow of winter, lips like blooming roses, and hair darker than a raven’s wing. Her heart was what made her stand out. It was like a sunbeam in a storm: warm, gentle, and open.
The Queen was Snow White’s stepmother, and they lived in a big castle. The Queen was also gorgeous, but her beauty was like glass—perfect but cold. Snow White’s beauty stemmed from her generosity. She acted like a rose with concealed thorns: beautiful on the outside but dangerous if you got too close.
Every morning, the Queen would stand in front of her magical mirror and enquire in her softest voice:
“Mirror, mirror on the wall, who is the fairest of them all?”
And the miraculous mirror that could only tell the truth would say:
“You, my Queen, are the most beautiful of them all.”
This answer made her happy. It wasn’t just about how they looked; it was about control, power, and admiration. But as time went on and Snow White grew into a young woman with warmth and grace, the mirror’s answer altered.
One day, while the Queen was in front of the mirror in her jewelled robe, she heard the words she had always been afraid of:
“Yes, my Queen, you are beautiful, but Snow White’s heart shines brighter than yours.”
The Queen’s smile stopped. A tempest was brewing beneath her eyes. Envy ran through her body like poison.
That night, she called the royal huntsman to her room by herself. Her voice was calm, but what she said was scary:
“Bring her deep into the woods.” Make sure she doesn’t come back.
The huntsman nodded, but his heart raced.
A Heart That Is Hidden
The huntsman came up to Snow White the next morning while she was picking wildflowers. His steps were heavy, and he couldn’t look her in the eye.
He took her into the woods, which was farther than she’d ever been. But when the time came and she smiled at him with trust and truth, the huntsman dropped his knife and knelt down.
He murmured, “I can’t,” his voice shaking. “Run.” Run away as fast as you can and don’t look back.
Snow White’s heart raced as she ran into the trees, not knowing where to go but knowing she had to stay alive. The woodland was wild, with creaking trees, odd shadows, and eyes that seemed to be watching. But Snow White didn’t cry. She held her breath, kept her hope alive, and kept going.
Finally, when the sun went down behind the woods, she saw a cottage hidden under a mossy mound. It looked like something from a story: small windows, a crimson door, and a little chimney that let out smoke.
She knocked on the door. No response.
She opened the door slowly. There were miniature chairs, plates, and beds all lined up in a row inside. Everything seemed clean and warm, as if it belonged to someone who really cared about the small things.
Snow White was so tired that she snuggled up on the beds, whispered “thank you,” and went asleep.
Seven Related Souls
That night, seven dwarfs came back to the cottage. They had dirt on their boots and stories in their eyes. They laboured in the mountains close by, digging up shiny jewels from the ground.
They gasped when they saw Snow White asleep.
“She’s real!” one of them said.
“An angel?” someone else thought.
“Just tired,” said the one with the softest voice.
When Snow White woke up to their soft whispers, she blinked in surprise but wasn’t scared. Their eyes were friendly. She told them everything, like the Queen, the huntsman, and the woodland.
The dwarfs were silent and serious as they listened. Then the oldest dwarf, Wise, nodded.
He answered, “You can stay here.” “You’ll be fine.” But the Queen knows what to do. Promise to be careful.
“I promise,” Snow White said, and she meant it.
That is why she stayed. She used a thistle brush to sweep the floor, made little meals, and sang as the birds sat on the ledge. She enjoyed the stories the dwarfs told her, and they loved the stories she told them. They laughed over soup, danced in the clearing, and made up songs about stars and diamonds.
In this house, she wasn’t a princess. She was part of the family.
The Queen’s Evil Plan
The Queen stood in front of her mirror again in the castle.
“Mirror, mirror on the wall, who is the most beautiful of them all?”
The reflection said back, almost sadly:
“Snow White, who lives with the seven kind hearts, is more beautiful than you in every way.”
The Queen’s anger broke the quiet. She had not succeeded. Snow White’s soul made her look less beautiful. That night, she used evil magic.
She made a poison apple that was so lovely and red that no one could say no. One bite, and sleep would come. A sleep so profound that no spell could wake it up. Unless…
She dressed herself as an old woman selling things, with a shawl, a basket of fruit, and a face that looked aged.
She then went to the woods.
The Apple and the Fall
When Snow White answered the door and saw an old woman smiling warmly, she wasn’t scared.
The woman said, “What a sweet face.” “Have an apple, dear.” It’s the best of the group.
Snow White was unsure.
“Go on, just a bite,” the woman said.
The fruit sparkled like rubies in the sun. Snow White nibbled into it a little bit…
And fell down.
The basket fell. The apple rolled.
The Queen’s disguise fell off as she laughed and disappeared into the trees.
The Long Sleep
The dwarfs discovered her laying quietly, with her face pallid and her mouth slightly open. No breath. No warmth.
They cried. The birds stopped singing, too.
“She’s gone,” Jolly said softly.
But Wise shook his head. “No. She is sleeping. We will keep an eye on her until she wakes up.
They made her a glass cabinet with flowers and velvet on the inside. They took turns watching over. Seasons came and went. It snowed. The trees started to grow. The world went on.
But they stayed with her.
The Kiss That Made You Remember
A prince was riding through the woods one day, deep in thought. He had heard stories about a brave girl whose heart was so pure that it could transform the air around her.
His horse stopped when he saw the glass display.
He got off his horse, walked over to her, and knelt.
“She’s real,” he said quietly.
He touched the glass and then opened it. He looked at her and saw that she was very calm, like she was dreaming about a novel.
Then he kissed her forehead very softly.
And something changed.
The snow white moved. She opened her eyes. The spell broke like the sun coming up through the fog.
The dwarfs yelled and cheered. The birds started to sing. The woods lit up.
She blinked and added, “I had the weirdest dream.” “But you were there, right?”
The Light Comes Back
The prince and Snow White went back to his palace, but she didn’t forget the home in the woods. She came by a lot, bringing pastries, songs, and hugs every time.
The Queen’s power disappeared as Snow White woke up. It fell apart into dust without anything to feed its envy.
The prince and Snow White governed with joy and grace. They paid attention. They got smarter. They laughed. They made sure that everyone in their realm always felt important and not small.
People liked Snow White not because she was pretty, but because she knew everyone’s name, enquired how they were, and always had time to talk.
🌙 A Soft Goodnight
So, dear dreamer, keep this in mind:
What you see in the mirror is not beauty. It’s your generosity, bravery, and love that you give to others.
There are cosy houses even in the deepest woods. True friends wait, even when they are quiet. And love can find us and help us get back up, even when we fall.
Now close your eyes.
Rest your heart and think about birds singing, mountain treasures, and apples that gleam.
And because you have a heart like Snow White’s that is brilliant enough to wake the world.
That’s all.
